Biocomposites Italia becomes exclusive national distributor of MicroGenDX in Italy

Partnership adds advanced molecular diagnostics to Biocomposites portfolio of infection management products

VIENNA, Austria and PRATO, Italy — Oct. 1, 2026 — MicroGenDX today announced that it has appointed Biocomposites Italia as its exclusive national distributor in Italy and San Marino, effective Sept. 1, 2026. This strategic partnership adds advanced molecular diagnostics to Biocomposites portfolio of infection management products, which includes STIMULAN – the only calcium matrix antibiotic carrier that is approved to deliver a combination of Gram-positive and Gram-negative antibiotics to resolve infection.
The MicroGenDX Test uses next-generation DNA sequencing and advanced bioinformatics to identify microorganisms at the site of infection, including resistance genes. Results enable clinicians to select and locally deliver the most appropriate antibiotic for each patient and pathogen, in line with treatment guidelines.
Ewald Kreid, Managing Director of MicroGenDX Europe said: “We are excited that our clinically validated test will now be widely available to healthcare professionals and patients in Italy to help identify and target microbes in a site of infection.” Pierluigi Leone, General Manager at Biocomposites Italia said: “By combining precise pathogen identification with localized, patient-specific therapy, this partnership supports more effective management of complex musculoskeletal infections,”
The MicroGenDX Test and STIMULAN are available to healthcare providers across Italy and San Marino through Biocomposites Italia. For more information, contact a Biocomposites Italia sales specialist.
